Definición:

El término en odontología para un diente que cae o se sale por un golpe violento recibido es "avulsión dental".

Consideraciones generales:

Un diente permanente que se cae por un golpe algunas veces se puede reimplantar. En la mayoría de los casos, únicamente se reimplantan en la boca los dientes permanentes de los adultos; mientras que los dientes de los bebés generalmente no se reimplantan. 

Se debe contactar al odontólogo inmediatamente cuando un diente se ha partido o se ha caído a causa de un golpe. Si se puede puede encontrar dicho diente después del accidente o la lesión, se debe llevar consigo cuando se busque asistencia médica.

Causas:

Los accidentes dentales son comúnmente causados por:

  • Caídas accidentales
  • Trauma relacionado con el deporte
  • Peleas
  • Accidentes automovilísticos
  • Masticación de alimentos duros
