Definición:

Es un tipo de tumor en la tráquea o en las vías respiratorias grandes (bronquios) que generalmente provoca su obstrucción. Aunque el término adenoma bronquial alguna vez se utilizó para referirse a tumores no cancerosos (benignos) de las vías respiratorias, estos tumores, con excepción de los adenomas de las glándulas mucosas, ahora se sabe que se diseminan a otras áreas del cuerpo.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Estos tumores crecen lentamente, rara vez se diseminan (hacen metástasis) y su causa se desconoce. Este tipo de tumor tiende a producir sangrado u obstruir un pulmón o un lóbulo pulmonar.
