Intolerancia a la glucosa durante el embarazo
Definición:
Es la presencia de glucemia alta (diabetes) que empieza o se diagnostica primero durante el embarazo.
Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
Los factores de riesgo para la diabetes gestacional abarcan:
- Ancestro hispano o africano
- Tener más de 25 años al quedar embarazada
- Antecedentes familiares de diabetes
- Parto previo de un bebé con un peso por encima de 4 kg (9 lb)
- Obesidad
- Infecciones repetitivas
- Aborto espontáneo o muerte de un recién nacido de manera inexplicable
